Improvisation
Embodied Expression
All Welcome
The class formally called 'improv' will move beyond the idea of external presentation to an embodied inquiry into what arises and is tended in an improvisational practice. This is an emergent process whereby prompts provide a catalyst for impulse to rise and lead the body. The goal is to provide a space where the body is allowed to lead: to lead the dancer, to lead the communication with other bodies, and to lead the mending loops that may emerge. Join this weekly embodied, community practice that explores the potential of the land/energy-scape of the body to move us through a clearing, a considering/questioning and a co-creation in a non-linear, playful & deep, somatic engagement with our beautiful bodies. Come to be in awe of your body as storyteller, tender & muse.
All levels, gendres, bodies, & ages .
What to Bring
Please wear the following on your feet. Bare feet with half socks, halfsoles, or foot undies since there’s turns involved. There may also be some floor work so knee pads are recommended for people with sensitive knees.
Water bottle and wear layers that get you in the mood and allow you to adjust temperature.
